Longlist and Shortlist Agents

From a blank search to a defensible shortlist — in minutes, not days

Loxo's sourcing agents cover the two most manual steps in recruiting. The Longlist Agent builds a candidate pool while The Shortlist Agent ranks that pool and explains every recommendation. Use one, use both: the recruiter stays in control either way.

Building a qualified candidate pool is still an extremely manual process

Every day we talk to recruiting firms who say…

“Before a recruiter can evaluate a single candidate, they've spent hours assembling the list. Even then, they can't be sure they've found everyone.”
“Building a longlist can take days — and once the pool exists, deciding who belongs on the shortlist isn't much better.”
“We know we're missing people we've already talked to. We go to import them, and realize they're already in our database.”

Designed to help you find the best talent, faster

Two agents that serve the same goal: helping reduce the time it takes for you to find the very best matches for a role.

The Longlist Agent

Find everyone worth considering

Instead of bouncing between sources, the Longlist Agent searches Loxo's talent graph of 850M+ professionals alongside your firm's own database in a single search. It then builds a complete candidate pool of up to 10,000 people.

The Shortlist Agent

Uncover niche talent with proprietary, industry-specific datasets

The Shortlist Agent evaluates every candidate in your longlist across seven hiring dimensions, and each candidate receives an explanation showing why they landed where they did. Instead of hours spent comparing resumes and building a case for each candidate, recruiters start with a ranked shortlist they can review, adjust, and confidently hand to a hiring manager or client.

Flexible to your needs

Use one, use both, use them your way

Run the Longlist Agent on its own when you need a complete candidate pool fast. Add the Shortlist Agent when you need to evaluate and rank. Or run them in sequence as part of Loxo's full agentic workflow, where they follow the Intake Agent, Job Description + Skills DNA Agent, and then feed directly into outreach. However you use them, the recruiter reviews the output and decides who moves forward.

What changes when the most manual parts of recruiting aren't so manual anymore?

Nearly half of sourced hires already come from candidates a firm already knows. The problem isn't finding people — it's finding the right people, without spending days doing it.

Candidates you've built relationships with resurface alongside new prospects in the same search. Your database stops being something you maintain and starts being something that compounds.
When every ranked candidate comes with a clear, dimension-by-dimension explanation, the shortlist becomes something you can defend — to a hiring manager pushing back, to a client asking why these five, to anyone reviewing your process.
The work that requires human judgment gets more of it. Researchers and sourcers spend less time assembling lists and more time evaluating talent. Recruiters spend less time comparing resumes and more time building relationships.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you've got questions about Loxo's Sourcing Agents, you came to the right place.
Will this replace my recruiters or their jobs?

No! The goal is to remove the repetitive work so recruiters can spend more time on judgment, relationships, and hiring decisions.

The Longlist Agent takes care of building the candidate pool. Researchers and sourcers still do the work that matters most — evaluating candidates, building relationships, and deciding who should move forward.

The Shortlist Agent handles the time-consuming work of evaluating and comparing candidates. Recruiters still review every shortlist, make adjustments if needed, and decide who moves forward.

Do I have to use both agents together?

Nope! The Longlist Agent can be used on its own whenever you need to build a candidate pool faster. The Shortlist Agent can evaluate a pool you've built another way. They work best in sequence, but either one delivers value independently.

How is this different from a match score other platforms talk about?

Most platforms return a relevance score based on how closely a candidate matches a job description. The Shortlist Agent evaluates every candidate across seven named hiring dimensions using a consistent scoring process, and explains the reasoning behind every ranking in plain language. AI writes the explanation — it doesn't determine the score.

What if it misses someone we know is a good fit?

For the Longlist Agent: recruiters always review the candidate pool before moving forward, and feedback from missed candidates helps improve future searches.

For the Shortlist Agent: you can always review and adjust the shortlist, and capturing feedback on missed candidates helps strengthen future evaluations. Nothing moves forward automatically.

What about bias and compliance?

The Shortlist Agent was designed with transparency from the beginning. Every recommendation can be reviewed, explained, and questioned — the evaluation follows a consistent, deterministic scoring process, not a generative model making opaque decisions. Supporting documentation is available for legal and security reviews.

Is our data used to train models outside our firm?

Your firm's data stays your firm's data. For specific data usage and legal questions, your Loxo account team can connect you with the right resources.
