We are currently in search of a Director of Development for a nonprofit organization focused on supporting vulnerable children. The position is based in Cedar Knolls, NJ. This is a full-time permanent (Onsite) position.

 

LOCATION: Cedar Knolls, NJ

POSITION TITLE: Director of Development

DURATION: Full-time, Permanent (Onsite)

SALARY: $80k - $90k plus benefits.

The Director of Development will report directly to the Executive Director. This role is responsible for planning and implementing activities to increase and diversify income sources to fund the organization’s programs.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, and management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and detail orientation.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of fundraising CRM, Donor Perfect a plus.
  • Donor database management experience.
  • Strong passion for the mission of the organization.

 

General Requirements:

  • Satisfactory background checks (Fingerprinting, CARI, etc.).
  • References.
  • Successful completion of 36-hour volunteer training (completed after hire).

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Create and implement an annual development plan of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Identify new funding opportunities with individuals, corporations, foundations, banks, and government sources by providing recommendations and briefings to the Executive Director.
  • Develop and execute annual appeal, including content and design, generating mailing lists, setting goals, and following up with donors.
  • Manage grant program to submit persuasive, clear, and accurate grant proposals and reports, as well as research new grant opportunities.
  • Assist with the cultivation and communication of current and new donors to educate, inspire, and celebrate their engagement with the organization.
  • Manage and maintain donor database.
  • Develop and oversee the Planned Giving program.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
