We are currently in search of a Program Manager role with an organization project focused on the economic empowerment, skills development, and poverty alleviation of Kenya’s most marginalized adolescent girls and young women through workforce success and entrepreneurship.

 

POSITION TITLE: Program Manager

LOCATION: 100% Remote (Travel to Kenya once or twice a year)

DURATION: Full-time Permanent role

SALARY: $60,000-$65,000 annual salary

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Manager plays a key role in the planning, execution, and oversight of the project. This individual is responsible for managing large programmatic initiatives, ensuring adherence to organizational goals, meeting the goals set forth in the contract, and assuring program governance. The Program Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders, including staff, subcontractors, and partners, to achieve program objectives and further the mission of the organization and project. The Program Manager Reports to the Executive Director.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Responsibilities:

1. Program Planning and Development:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership in the US and Kenya to develop and implement program strategies aligned with the organization's mission and project goals.
  • Oversee SOW and sub-contractor agreement with partners, provide governance for all aspects of programming.
  • Conduct needs assessments and research to identify potential program opportunities and gaps in services.
  • Develop and refine program reporting, documentation, and communication processes across the project team, including subcontractors and site partners in Kenya.
  • Create a program tracking system for a large complex program, assuring program and reporting deliverables are met.

 

2. Project Management:

  • Create detailed project plans outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to facilitate program implementation.
  • Participate in weekly calls with implementation partners to assure compliance and oversight.
  • Oversee the delivery of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting for all aspects of the program.
  • Ensure all program tracking systems are updated regularly and maintained.

 

3. Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with the funding Foundation. Assure ongoing communication and co-creation of programming.
  • Coordinate and ensure governance meetings, events occur, results are documented and follow up activities occur as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Funders, Partners, subcontractors, and site partners to achieve program success.

 

4. Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Collaborate with MERL Lead.
  • Collect and analyze relevant data to measure program impact and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders on program performance.

 

5. Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure program activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, progress reports, and other documentation required by funders.

 

6. Capacity Building:

  • Identify opportunities for program expansion and growth.
  • Provide program management training and support to staff, contractors, suppliers, and partners involved in program delivery.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven experience in program management within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong project management skills, including complex project management and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations affecting nonprofit organizations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
