Centennial is seeking a relationship-driven Development Director to develop, manage, and execute effective special events to raise funds for a youth-oriented nonprofit that operates in 12 counties throughout Greater Cincinnati. The position reports to the Chief Development Officer and will be responsible for donor relations including the identification, prospecting, solicitation and cultivation of donors and corporate sponsors, as well as supporting donor and alumni affinity groups to further the organization’s development efforts. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Plan and execute high-quality and high net-return special events. 
• Develop high-level contact relationships with key and prospective donors and sponsors. 
• Cultivate existing and prospective supporters through donor-centered relationships. 
• Work within a high-performing team to achieve organizational goals. 
• Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising goals. Annual special event net income is $900,000; $650,000 of which is directly managed by the Development Director. 
• Increase the number of donors and sponsors supporting the organization. 
• Develop and implement a plan to diversify operating revenue by raising new dollars annually to fund operational costs, including upgrading donors, aggressive identification and engagement of new corporate partners, and the creation and oversight of affinity groups to identify and reengage the alumni base. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited educational institution. 
• Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation, or active pursuit of CFRE, preferred. 
• Two or more years of successful fundraising experience with a proven ability to plan and execute special events. 
• Exhibits fundraising mastery; ability to solicit and close sponsorships and philanthropic gifts. 
• Relationship driven. Identifies, develops, and fosters meaningful relationships with individuals and corporations from all walks of life and in various environments. 
• Community development professional. Ability to network in the community and identify individual and corporate major gift prospects. 
• Persuasive presenter. Tells compelling stories that appeal to donors on an emotional level and illustrates how the donor can help make a difference. 
• Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. 
• Excellent time management skills. Creative, self-starter attitude. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. 
• Provide a positive professional example. 
• Fiscal management and budget development skills. Able to grasp basic accounting skills in order to achieve and surpass budget expectations. 
• Passionate about serving the youth and families in the Greater Cincinnati area
